AI REVOLUTION: Dreams & Nightmares

AI DISCUSSION MEETING An Artificial Intelligence (AI) discussion meeting was held via Google Meet from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM under the moderation of Kelvin Kipsang. The session was organized through the support and guidance of Sir Kelly, the CEO of the Sir Kelly Foundation, who served as the guest of the day. The main objective of the meeting was to create awareness and provide insight into the application of AI in solving real-world problems. The meeting began with an introduction by Enock Kiprotich, who highlighted the importance and growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence in today’s world. This was followed by Ryan Kipkorir, who presented various real-world use cases, helping participants understand how AI is applied practically across different sectors. Jude Tulel then gave a detailed explanation of how AI systems work and presented a project on AI-powered ship detection for maritime surveillance, demonstrating how AI is used in global security systems. Elvin Biwott further explored the necessity of AI, explaining why it is an essential tool in modern innovation and development. Zawadi Mukuru concluded the presentations by guiding participants on how to get started with AI and how to effectively use it. She also showcased several projects she has been working on and shared her journey as a Data Science student at JKUAT. Her presentation demonstrated the real impact of applying AI knowledge in solving practical problems and inspired participants to actively pursue similar paths. The meeting also included an interactive session where participants engaged with the presenters through questions and discussions. Titus Kiptoo Rono was among those who actively participated, seeking guidance on how to integrate AI into his Engineering project. The feedback and insights gained during this interaction played a significant role in shaping and improving his project, particularly in the areas of AI-based plant health detection and data driven decision-making. Overall, the meeting was highly informative and inspiring, providing participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical direction in the field of Artificial Intelligence. It emphasized the importance of continuous learning, innovation, and application of AI in addressing real world challenges. Sir Kelly also recommended that such meetings be conducted at least twice a month to ensure consistent engagement, learning, and growth among participants. In conclusion, the session was a success, leaving participants motivated and better equipped with knowledge on how to explore and implement AI in their respective projects and careers.
