We identify the beneficiaries for our EMS program from various primary schools and mostly we rely on the guidance from teachers, church leaders, community social workers and our own internal network to establish the deserving cases for the program. Once identified, the individual beneficiaries are assessed to establish the situation of need, this ranges from, clothing, shelter, food and instructional materials. The objective here is to ensure that the child is provided with sufficient support to enable them to be mentally stable and remain focused in studies. The basic support provided and counselling and focused Mentorship on good performance is all these young angels require to excel in their studies. The strategy has delivered over 90% successful cases getting plum scholarship and placement to great schools.
Most children beneficiaries for our program come from broken families, partial orphans, total orphans under care of relatives, single parenthood, separated from parents and some live in misery and abject poverty. When they transit to high school on scholarship, the school environment provides them with the much needed cover, protection, food and shelter. Challenges emerge when schools are closed, in many cases some are never given reception in homes where they lived while in primary schools. We organise for them alternative shelter and caretaker homes where they can access all the basic needs. We closely monitor to ensure these children are comfortable and experiencing the semblance of parental love and care. Sirkelly Foundation guidance and counselling team keeps regular contact both when in school and home.
Mothers in Motion Enterprise Support(MMES) is the program we envisioned upon realization that we needed to socialise the families whose children are under our Education Support program to begin the path to sustainable financial literacy and independence. We make an assessment of individual family daily income generating engagement, in most cases a good are involved in fairly profitable enterprises but only require financial support and training on how to build their savings and grow their small businesses. Women feature prominently among those with desire to see through their children access education and equally are the ones involved in all manner of enterprising activities. Through this program, five business groups with membership of ten mothers are now enrolled in the program. The program is under the stewardship of our pioneer Sirkelly Foundation beneciaries most of whom are various universities locally and abroad.
Our students are exposed to leadership responsibilities in all the stages of their schooling. We encourage and inspire them to take up responsibilities both in school and at home. The essence is to enable them make critical and independent decisions, sound judgement and to be responsible for the outcome of their actions. We also identify those with special skills and talent and mentor and nurture them to full optimization of their unique and exceptional abilities. This helps to boost their esteem and ultimately contributes to excellent performance. The students are also taken through training on enterprise development, particularly on matters related to savings and investment. We are keen to fully liberate these students to be financially independent to enable them cope with the realities of life. We further train them on career choices, career development, and other related career preparation approaches.
